While some call him “retired” - he definitely hasn’t slowed down and loves to share his Love for Christ. His unbelievable energy and enthusiasm is contagious. From leading revivals, serving as a pastor, leading staff development retreats, “safety and security” audits, designing and hosting innovative learning opportunities - the focus is always on the expansion of Christ’s Kingdom, his heart for people and the Lord will bless you.
His wealth of experience includes having served on the staff of local churches in Tennessee, Texas and South Carolina. While serving the denomination he was called on to serve many times as either an Intentional Interim, Transitional Interim, or interim pastor ranging from struggling church needing revitalization to larger churches with multiple staff and very diverse ministries. He is a church growth coach.
Roger Orman served Southern Baptist in South Carolina as Associate Executive Director of the state convention from 2000 to 2014, with a variety of people and project management responsibilities including events and construction. He gave leadership to the Church Development Team and then the Church Supporting Team (formerly the Communication & Mission Development Team). His management responsibilities included White Oak Conference Center, Camp McCall, and the convention building facility in Columbia. He oversaw media relations, the offices of GuideStone and Cooperative Program, communications support group, print services, computer technology and data processing; he developed church staff “coach training,” worked with various convention committees, designed marketing plans, and produced online resources to intentionally impact lives for Christ. He regularly served in pulpit supply and was in high demand as an intentional interim pastor; he leads church leadership training, marriage enrichment retreats, and revivals. He is a certified trainer in “Result Based Conversations,” a “CoachNet” certified coach; along with a Cambridge University certification in Church & School Risk Management, he is a NRA certified Range Safety Officer. He truly is multi-talented with a wealth of experience and unbelievable energy.
A Mississippi native, he returned to his home state in 2014 and assumed the responsibilities of the Team Leader for Discipleship Development Center/Sunday School Specialist with the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board in Jackson. His unique skills and knowledge in training, development, and risk management have him in 2017 developing the “Protecting Your Reputation & Your Church” conference. This particular risk management conference is designed for youth, children, and recreation leaders around the state as well as performing over 300 safety security ‘audits’ and training for churches. The 3-1-5-1 Evangelism strategy he spearheaded for the state in 2016 continue until 2018. Additionally, for 2018, Orman has led the convention to partner with Walk Thru The Bible Ministries to host three live regional conferences of 7 Laws of the Learner – customized for Bible study leaders in Mississippi. Leaving the convention after four years (December 2018) he embarked on a new journey of semi-retirement to move closer to their children and grandchildren. No matter where he is serving he seeks to grow disciples and expands a faith community.”
